About this tour
"Excursion to the Fergana Valley!"
Margilan is one of the world's leading producers of silk, renowned for its exquisite "Ikat" and "Batik" fabrics. The train arrives in Margilan at 1:00 PM, and you will proceed to a local restaurant for lunch.
Lunch in the city
After lunch, you will visit a Silk Workshop, where artisans still work using ancestral methods. During the tour of the silk weaving workshop, your guide will explain the history of sericulture (silk farming) and the entire production process, as Uzbekistan has been a major silk producer for centuries.
You will also visit the Kanaka Mosque, dating back to the 14th century, located in the city center. Afterward, you will travel to Fergana, the modern administrative capital of the Fergana Valley. You will explore the city center, walk through the park, and visit the city's central market. At the end of the day, you will return to Margilan for your hotel transfer.

Day 1: Tashkent – Margilan (340 km) by train

You will head to the railway station to catch the 08:05 AM train to Margilan.
  • The Fergana Valley is a geographical region in Central Asia, shared by three countries: Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. As one of the most fertile and significant valleys in the area, it has played a vital role throughout the region's history. Framed by majestic mountain ranges, the valley offers diverse landscapes and holds great strategic importance. It is also a historic and cultural crossroads, often referred to as the "cradle" of civilizations and commercial trade.

Day 2: Margilan – Kokand (80 km)
Breakfast.
Today, you will visit the Kumtepa Market, a popular and vibrant bazaar in Margilan. As a vital economic hub for the region, it offers a wide range of goods, including fresh fruits, vegetables, spices, and local textiles. Visitors can immerse themselves in the lively and colorful atmosphere typical of Uzbek markets, discovering both everyday essentials and traditional handicrafts. It is the perfect place to experience the local culture and economic life of the region.
After the market, you will continue to Oltiarik to visit a Luthier (traditional instrument maker). This is a family enterprise where the master works alongside his students. You will tour the workshop and witness the intricate process of crafting traditional Uzbek musical instruments.
Next, you will head to Rishtan, often called the city of ceramists. Rishtan is a historic center for high-quality ceramics, where artisans preserve techniques passed down through generations.
  • Traditional Lunch: Hosted by a local ceramist (subject to family availability).
Afternoon: Visit a ceramic workshop to see the distinctive traditional patterns. This style is famous for its vibrant shades of blue, turquoise, and green used on decorative plates, tiles, and vases.
Finally, you will continue your journey to Kokand.

Day 3: Kokand – Tashkent (230 km)
Breakfast.
Your discovery continues in Kokand, one of the oldest and most economically significant cities in the country. Kokand has a rich history as a cultural and political center and was the heart of the powerful Khanate of Kokand in the 19th century. You will visit:
  • The Palace of Khudayar Khan
  • Juma Mosque
  • Dakhma-i-Shokhon (Necropolis of the Khans)
Next, you will visit a Master Blacksmith (knifemaker) in his workshop.
  • Traditional Lunch: Hosted by the blacksmith’s family (subject to family availability).
After lunch, you will set off for Tashkent, crossing the scenic Kamchik Pass at an altitude of 2,200 meters.
  • Arrival in Tashkent: Check-in at the hotel.
  • Dinner and Overnight stay at the hotel.
