Bibi-Khanym Mosque After lunch, head to the Bibi-Khanym Mosque, one of the largest and most imposing structures in Samarkand. It was built by Tamerlane in the 14th century in honor of his wife, Bibi-Khanym.
The Samarkand Market (Siyob Bazaar) If you enjoy the atmosphere of local markets, stop by the Siyob Bazaar to buy souvenirs and experience daily local life.
Shah-i-Zinda Next, visit Shah-i-Zinda, a complex of mausoleums and tombs known as a necropolis. It is often considered one of the most sacred and magnificent sites in Samarkand. The architecture and blue tile mosaics are incredible, and the atmosphere is very peaceful.
- Optional: Ulugh Beg Observatory If you have more time, end your day by visiting the Observatory of Ulugh Beg, the 15th-century scientist and astronomer. Although only ruins remain today, it is a fascinating place to discover the history of science in Central Asia.
